    Convergence in house prices across OECD countries: A panel data analysis

    This study examines whether housing prices converged in OECD countries over the 1996–2015 period. The unconditional and conditional convergence hypotheses are tested via the system-GMM method using five-year span panel data of twenty OECD countries. The results reveal that there exists a significant convergence process within this country group. To test the conditional convergence hypothesis, the convergence equation is estimated also with some control variables that may reflect market activity and demand side impacts such as income level, construction, unemployment rate, permits for dwellings and share prices. The findings show that the speed of convergence is even higher when the above-mentioned variables are controlled

    U19 (AGE 16-19) INVESTIGATION OF VIOLENCE TENDENCIES OF SOCCER PLAYERS

    Purpose: This study was conducted to evaluate the violence tendency levels of U-19 team athletes in football clubs according to familial factors. Methods: In our study, 150 athletes who played football in U19 teams as licensed in amateur sports clubs participated (n = 150). The universe of the study is the football clubs in Gaziosmanpaşa district. Our sample group consists in U19 (16-19 years) team players who officially joined the football teams of Gaziosmanpaşa district. The personal information form developed by the researcher was used to learn the socio-demographic information of the voluntarily participating players and the Violence Tendency Scale was used to measure the violence tendencies. Results: According to the demographic characteristics of the participants, 8.7% of the mothers were not literate, 16.0% were literate, 49.3% were primary, 19.3% were high school and 6.7% were university graduates. Looking at the situation of exposure to domestic violence, 12% answered yes and 88% answered no. Conclusions: When the participants' exposure to domestic violence and their tendency to violence are examined, it is seen that there is no significant difference between those who are exposed to domestic violence and those who are not.  Article visualizations

Countries have started to advertise public services as a cheap, easily accessible, fast, and effective way to save the health system and meet the population's medical needs. However, due to the immediate broadcast of the public service announcements, sufficient information could not be obtained about its effectiveness and deficiencies on people. With the widespread use of neuromarketing techniques in recent years, it is possible to evaluate individuals' positive or negative reactions to public service announcements. Although the machines are designed with state-of-the- art Artificial Intelligence applications, they are limited in their ability to mimic human behavior. The human- human interaction occurs between two or more humans; when a machine replaces a human, the interaction dynamics are not the same. The results indicate that a machine that interacts with a human can increase the mental uncertainty that a human experiences. Developments in decision sciences indicate that using quantum probability theory (QPT) improves the understanding of human decision- making than merely using classical probability theory (CPT). In this paper, we examine the HMI from a QPT perspective.     Social media and hidden curriculum: What do teacher-student interactions teach students?

    The aim of this study is to examine the views of the students about the learning outcomes of teacher-student interactions on social media within the context of hidden curriculum. To this end, a quantitative associational research design was used in this study. Within the scope of the research, 2046 students attending to the middle schools in Kahramanmaraş province were selected into the sample. The data of the study were collected using “Hidden curriculum on social media scale” which has a four-factor structure consisting of 16 items developed by the researchers. The results of the analysis from the hidden curriculum perspective revealed that as a result of interactions between the teacher and the student on social media, students learn some rules and values, know better about their teachers, restrain themselves from sharing and communicating about certain topics, and gain confidence in communication. Furthermore, a statistically significant difference was found in favor of male students in terms of learning to restraint and gaining confidence in communication, whereas no significant difference was observed in terms of learning rules and values, and knowing better about teachers. With regard to grade level, the learning outcomes of especially the 5th graders through hidden curriculum on social media were found to be significantly more than those of other students in upper classes of middle schools. However, all the statistically significant differences were found to have small effect sizes. It was also found that the daily time students spend on social media and the number of teachers added as friends to their accounts were significant predictors of students' their learning outcomes within the scope of hidden curriculum.The aim of this study is to examine the views of the students about the learning outcomes of teacher-student interactions on social media within the context of hidden curriculum.     The Impacts of Structural and Psychological Empowerment on Burnout:A Research on Staff Nurses in Turkish State Hospitals

    The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between the level of perceived structural and psychological empowerment and the level of burnout among nurses in health service organizations. Data for the present study were taken from the survey of state hospital nurses. This study employs a series of multiple regression analyses in order to address the effect of the level of empowerment on the level of burnout—as well as the effect of the level of each dimension of structural empowerment and psychological empowerment on the each dimension of burnout. The results indicate that nurses who perceive higher level psychological empowerment and lower level structural empowerment and burnout. In addition to the effect of empowerment or the dimensions of empowerment, it was found that various background factors influence the level of burnout perceived by nurses in the workplace.Keywords: Structural Empowerment; Psychological Empowerment; Burnout; Nurses; State Hospital; Turke

    Radiation Dosimetry in Thyroid Cancer Patients

    Radioactive iodine is utilized commonly for ablation of remnant thyroid tissue after thyroidectomy and treatment of persistent disease and metastases in differentiated thyroid cancer patients. As it involves ionizing radiation, it is important to ensure that the patients receive optimum amount of radiation to destruct the target tissue while keeping the radiation-related side effects to minimum. In clinical practice, standard activity doses are preferred for thyroid cancer patients, assuming that biokinetics are similar in all patients. Lately, many clinicians offered to individualise the radioactive iodine therapy by calculating the optimal amount of radioactivity using patient dosimetry. Radiation dosimetry is used to calculate the minimum effective and maximum tolerated absorbed dose for a successful radioactive iodine therapy. This approach enables to administer increased amount of therapeutic activity while minimizing the related side effects. This chapter presents some of the basic principles of patient dosimetry and radioiodine biokinetics following radioactive iodine administration in differentiated thyroid cancer patients
